Wisdom Teeth Removal
for Ferry Pass, Brent, Pensacola, FL & Beyond

Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to erupt within the mouth. When they align properly, and gum tissue is healthy, wisdom teeth do not have to be removed. Unfortunately, this does not generally happen. The extraction of wisdom teeth is necessary when they are prevented from properly erupting within the mouth. They may grow sideways, partially emerge from the gum, or even remain trapped beneath the gum and bone. Impacted teeth can take many positions in the bone as they attempt to find a pathway that will allow them to erupt successfully.

Is it Time to Book a
Wisdom Teeth Removal?

Here are some of the common signs that you may need a wisdom teeth removal:

Pain in the Back of the Mouth: Persistent pain or pressure in the area behind the molars is often the first sign of impacted or problematic wisdom teeth.

Swelling or Tenderness: Swelling in the gums or jaw, especially in the back of the mouth, could indicate infection or irritation caused by wisdom teeth pushing against other teeth.

Jaw Stiffness or Difficulty Opening the Mouth: Impacted wisdom teeth can lead to stiffness in the jaw, making it hard to open the mouth fully.

Crowded or Shifting Teeth: As wisdom teeth grow in, they can push against other teeth, causing them to shift and become misaligned.

Sinus Issues: The roots of the upper wisdom teeth can press against the sinuses, causing sinus pressure, pain, and headaches.

Recurring Bad Breath: Infected wisdom teeth can cause bad breath due to trapped food particles and bacteria growth.

Cyst Formation or Jaw Damage: Cysts can develop around impacted teeth, potentially causing bone and nerve damage in severe cases. Generally, they're detected through X-rays.

These poorly positioned impacted teeth can cause many problems. When they are partially erupted, the opening around the tooth allows bacteria to grow, which will eventually cause an infection. The results are swelling, stiffness, pain and illness. The most serious problem occurs when tumors or cysts form around the impacted wisdom tooth, resulting in the destruction of the jawbone and healthy teeth. Removal of the offending impacted tooth or teeth usually resolves these problems. Early removal is recommended to avoid such future problems and to decrease the surgical risk involved with the procedure.
